Generator Enclosures by ArtUSA

Our acoustic and noise control enclosures for generators are completed at our factory and are ready to go directly into service. Installation is simple and fast. Drop over type units may only need to be lowered over the machine. On the other hand, site work may be necessary when the enclosure is large and cannot be transported in one piece or when it needs to be mounted in restricted spaces. Then we supply the enclosure in panel form with quick-acting catches and assemble it on site. The enclosures can be constructed from any outer materials for a finish to your requirements and also all weather conditions. Each acoustic enclosure installation is treated individually. Site evaluations are carried out to determine the type of enclosure required.

ENCLOSURES FOR GENERATOR SETS

Our Generator Enclosures are manufactured to the highest specifications. We can supply either a simple weatherproof enclosure or an acoustic enclosure. All our generator enclosures are designed to allow the maximum aspiration and cooling airflow required so the engine does not overheat. Weather louvers, acoustic louvers, splitter and baffles are provided to suppress the noise where required. A flexible connection between the radiator and the outlet are provided to reduce vibration. Anti-Vibration mounts can also be provided where required. Shipping containers can be used as a generator enclosure by the addition of an absorptive lining and the fitting of attenuators or acoustic louvres at either end of the container. The generator is fitted into the container via the double doors and a suitable silencer is mounted on the roof.

Types of generators: Caterpillar - Mitsubishi - Detroit - Macfarlane - Nissan - Yanmar - Dorman - Iveco

The list is of generators that we can treat is unlimited.

Special features

Many special features are available depending upon the application. Some types of equipment such as generator sets and air compressors are self contained, but may require features including:

Hinged or lift off doors with single or double seals - Single or double glazed windows - Louvers to minimize water entry and maximize air flow through the enclosure - Mesh openings to stop vermin and vandalism - Fuel tanks - day units or base type provided with fittings - Ventilation - by means of an auxiliary fan - Inlet filters - replaceable and panel types - Vibration isolation - rubber mounted - Internal partitions - from sheet steel - Roof reinforcing - for larger enclosures

We can also design for - Ventilation and cooling - Access points - Equipment vibration - Environmental issues

Construction

Acoustic enclosures will be as varied as the customer's requirements (or one's imagination).  The enclosure outer walls generally consist of 16 gauge thickness of galvanized mild steel sheeting, and are internally lined to meet your requirements. The lining material can vary from rock wool covered with perforated metal to foams and composites. Acoustic enclosures for diesel engines (generator sets) need to handle the aspiration and cooling airflow through inlet and outlet attenuators, acoustic louvers, or baffles, and provide flexible connections from the radiator to the outlet.

We can build the acoustic enclosure around your machine after it has been delivered to our factory, or design and build using your detailed drawings. We handle heavy lifts with our forklift truck or with a mobile crane.

The design of the acoustic enclosure is capable of variation to many machine noise problems. Requirements can range from a small noise reduction, in which a minimal solution will be adequate, ie. an enclosure which may not fully enclose the machine, can achieve 5-10 dB(A) noise reduction. More elaborate enclosures can achieve a noise reduction of greater than 30dB(A), and can consist of one enclosure inside another.

Painting of the equipment can be included in our manufacturing, and will vary from finishing with machine enamel to two-pack epoxy, powder coating or other options.

Drop over acoustical enclosures can be used when it is necessary to suppress noise pollution from machinery either fixed or mobile. Legally employers must protect their employees from continuous high noise levels above 85dB(A).Equipment such as presses, foundry shake-out machines, nail making machines, and granulators require an inlet and outlet for entry and exit of the product. These openings need attenuation to minimise noise emission. Fans emitting considerable noise through the casing will also need to be enclosed and therefore penetrations will need to be provided for the air inlet and outlet. A small ventilation fan may be needed to remove the electric motor heat.
